Mr. Ronnie Erwin visits NCSO

I'd like to thank Mr. Ronnie Erwin for his visit today and for his very generous gift of "Stars Over Texas". This is obviously a huge labor of love, many years of hard work and dedication to make this publication, which spotlights our great state and the history behind each county sheriff elected in Texas over the past 150 years.

Mr. Erwin spent many, many hours and traveled many miles contacting and speaking to each elected sheriff if possible. I learned that Mr. Erwin will commit all proceeds from the sales of "Stars Over Texas" to the newly established "Lynn M. Erwin Memorial Award." Lynn is Ronnie's late wife who diligently worked along side him for years until her untimely death. "The perpetual award's purpose is to publicly recognize a Texas Sheriff who has displayed remarkable ingenuity and inventiveness in carrying out their duties. It also spotlights their exceptional and extraordinary contributions to their community and state."

Again, I was very touched and honored to receive his call and especially to be personally given this amazing gift by Mr. Erwin himself. Knowing the hard work and dedication that so obviously went into the compilation of the history of the sheriffs of Texas, and much more, made it even that more special.
