Dating Sites Scams

10/06/2015

There have been several citizens of Navarro County targeted by a specific type of scam lately. In most recent cases, there appears to be a male suspect that finds his female victims on dating sites that are generally fitted for women fifty years and older.  He will try to lure the victims in by developing a false relationship where he tells the women that he is a business owner and has a substantial amount of money. He then tells them that he will come to meet them after a business trip he must attend in Mexico. He reports back to his victim telling her that he has been involved in an accident in Mexico and has injuries and is hospitalized. During this process, he claims he has lost his wallet and all identity, and has no money. He claims that he cannot be released from the hospital until his bill is paid and then gets his victim to wire money to him in Mexico. He keeps coming up with more reasons to have the victim continue to wire money to him until the victim realizes that they have been scammed.

Be aware of these dating sites. This person, or these people, will take all of your money if possible. They will convince you into taking out loans by telling you that you will be reimbursed. Monies have already been taken from victims in Navarro County up to thousands of dollars.
